A name born from iron and foam
When our CEO Julia needed a name for the company, she went old-school: pen, paper, and a deadline breathing down her neck. The goal? Unique, nerdy, pronounceable, and tied to our core tech, metal foams.
Drawn from the Greek “aphrós” (foam) and the Latin “ferrum” (iron), we get “iron foam”, a direct nod to our patented metal foams used in advanced cooling. Beyond that, Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, is born from sea foam.
All these led Julia to the name we have today: Apheros. Memorable, a little g(r)eeky, and exactly us.
Sure, in Swiss German it sounds like “monkeyhorse”, but that just makes it more fun.
